Are you sitting down? Because we’ve got some very big news! Friends, your favourite show of ALL TIME, is being resurrected from the dead to make your life a better place.

Although we should probably warn you, it’s not quite the return you may have been expecting, in fact… it’s better.

Because potentially the only thing that could top Friends season 11 is Friends – the musical.

Spontaneously breaks out into a rousing rendition of “Smelly Cat”!

That’s right, a new stage show – Friends! The Musical! – is headed to New York this year. The parody show is being written by Bob and Tolby McSmith, who have previously sent up Saved By The Bell, Full House, and Showgirls in the past.

According to The Huffington Post, song titles include, “The Only Coffee Shop In New York City”, “45 Grove Street – How Can We Afford This Place?” and “How You Doin, Ladies?”.

Tickets for the show go on sale in June, so you might want to pop your leave in and plan your holiday ASAP.

While we’re thrilled with the musical, we’re still keen to get the gang back together for an on-screen reunion.

Last year, the some of the cast members got together to celebrate veteran sitcom director James Burrows’ 1000th TV episode. The two-hour special also welcomed back other landmark series including Taxi, Cheers, Frasier and Will & Grace – which currently has a 12-episode reboot in the works.

Wouldn't it be great to have the gang back together again!

But while we’re desperate for a full revival, the cast members don’t seem to be as keen.

“I don’t see it happening,” Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, told the US Today Show.

“It would be fun, but what would it be about? Think about it. The thing we liked best about the show was that they were twenty-somethings and they were their own family. Now, they all have families, so what are we going to watch?”

She’s not the only one to shut down the idea. Jennifer Aniston also thinks the horse has bolted on a full-scale revival.

“Honestly, I don’t know what we would do,” Jennifer told E! News.

“I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic. We weren’t checking Facebooks and Instagrams. We were in a room together, in a coffee shop together. We were talking, having conversations. We have lost that,” she explained.

She makes a valid point, but we’re just not content with leaving the past in the past. We want to meet the next generation. We want to know how Monica and Chandler’s marriage worked out. How many times have Ross and Rachel been “on a break” over the past 15 years? Did Joey finally crack the big time?

It’s the season of revivals at the moment. We’ve had Gilmore Girls, we’re getting Will & Grace, so come on, Friends, join the party!
